Most obese people have one thing in common – for whatever reason, their minds are not adept at telling when their bodies are too full. There are many reasons for this, but the most important step in beating obesity is reducing the number of calories you ingest each day. Some of the more common causes of obesity in children include poor diet - including unhealthy choices and portions that are too large - and a sedentary lifestyle that includes too little physical play or exercise. Unfortunately both of these lifestyle issues are a direct result of the modern society in which we live; a society in which children play computer games and watch television rather than play outside; and a society in which convenience foods have replaced natural foods.

An environment that promotes healthy weight is one that encourages eating nutritious foods in reasonable portions and regular physical activity. A healthy environment is important for all individuals to prevent and treat obesity and maintain weight loss.
